On October 22, 2024, we welcomed Professor Ahn of the Technical University of Munich, a specialist in intellectual property law, to give a lecture on Africa and brand protection in the age of e-commerce. Despite the late start time of 6 p.m., a diverse group of about 50 people including students, faculty and staff from Keio University and other universities, intellectual property departments of law firms and private companies, as well as high school students, gathered at the Mita Campus of Keio University and listened attentively.

On October 8, 2024, a lecture was held by Professor Alexandra Bensamoon of the University of Paris-Saclay, a specialist in intellectual property and digital law.
Approximately 140 people, including students, faculty members, and researchers from Keio University and other institutions, as well as lawyers' firms, intellectual property departments of private companies, and government agencies, participated in the event.

in this workshop, we will briefly review the laws and regulations concerning digital identity verification and customer due diligence in financial institutions, and then discuss recent trends, including the documents of the authorities, to examine their purpose and interrelationships. After that, we will discuss the practical issues that financial institutions are facing, and consider examples of possible measures.

[Information]Digital Identity Study Group “Illegality of Deepfakes”(June 3, 2024)
With the spread of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, society has become aware of the possibility of creating sophisticated synthetic images (including video) of individuals. However, the problem of so-called deepfakes goes beyond the possibility of misleading people into believing that the content is true.
This symposium will examine the illegality of sexually explicit images from both a civil and criminal law perspective.

[Information] CPS Center: Digital Identity Study Group “Business and Identity” (March 7, 2024)
In cyberspace, the identity of entities in commercial transactions is also ensured by the technical implementation of security and authentication. However, daily identifications by consumers are based on visual, auditory, and other perceptual aspects. Furthermore, the explosion of technologies that mechanically generate information goods has led to a debate on the attribution of profits derived from the creation.
This symposium will examine the relationship between business and identity from a variety of perspectives, including these issues.
